Wedding of nine couples who survived
the Holocaust –Saloniki, Greece, Postwar
A large percentage of young survivors lost their entire families
during the Holocaust. As part of their struggle to “return to life”
the survivors felt an increasing need to break the cycle of
loneliness, to meet partners and build new families. Immediately after
the war, there was a wave of weddings. Often, as can be seen in the
photograph, several weddings were held simultaneously. |
