"The Memory of the Holocaust in the 21st Century - the Challenge for Education"
110 Workshops

An International Conference titled “The Memory of the Holocaust in the 21st Century - the Challenge for Education” took place in October 1999at the International School for Holocaust Studies. Over 350 educators and scholars from 23 countries including Australia, Japan, Cyprus, Germany, U.S.A, and South Africa took part.

It was the largest conference on the Holocaust ever to be held in Israel, and was held under the auspices of the International Task Force. The International Task Force was created to further international cooperation on Holocaust education, remembrance and research. Various topics were presented on Holocaust education in Israel and overseas, and participants took part in over 110 workshops. such as “Constructing Educational Web Sites on Concentration Camps: The Implications”, “Propaganda and Children During the Hitler Years”, “Holocaust Education and Denial in the US Army”, and “Holocaust Education through Art”. Drama, psychology, music, personal testimony, Internet, and many other educational mediums were introduced as possible didactic and pedagogical methods for teaching the Holocaust. Participants included representatives of Pamatnik Terezin, Czechoslovakia, Beit Shalom, UK, the Armenian Research Center, Cyprus, and the State Museum of Auschwitz, Poland amongst others.
