The Jewish
Labor Joint Boycott Council, established by the American Jewish
Congress in 1936, advocated a boycott of German-manufactured goods
and sponsored a series of protest demonstrations against the
persecution of Jews in Germany. However, the full spectrum of Jewish
organizations did not join ranks for action of this kind, because of
disunity among American Jews and disagreements on how to treat
Germany.
